Footage from inside the Etihad tunnel captured the awkward exchange between Jose Mourinho and Sergio Aguero after the Manchester derby. The Man City striker was involved in the most controversial moment of what was a relatively uneventful match against rivals Man United.

With time running out, and with Marouane Fellaini already on a booking, Fellaini tripped the Argentine forward. The Citizens players were looking at referee Martin Atkinson to show a second yellow, but seconds later Fellaini made his mind up for him.

After squaring up with Aguero, the Belgian headbutted his rival, who dropped to the ground, and Fellaini was given his marching orders.

After the game Mourinho claimed he had not seen the incident but suggested Aguero's reaction had convinced Atkinson to dismiss Fellaini.

"Marouane said that it's a red card because it's him," said Mourinho. "Martin Atkinson told me that in his opinion it's a red card. "But I saw Aguero in the tunnel and no broken nose, no broken head, his face as nice as always, so I'm not so sure.

"If Sergio doesn't go to the floor, for sure it's not a red card, but if Marouane gave him the chance to do that, I don't know."

Now the dust has settled on the intense fixture, Man City have released footage from inside the tunnel immediately after the game.

It shows Fellaini leaving the pitch early before the two sides follow suit after the final whistle is blown on the goalless tie. One of the last to leave the stadium is Aguero, who is greeted by Mourinho.

The pair shake hands before the Portuguese - who said he was looking to see where the Argentine had been injured - uttered a few words to him in an awkward exchange.
