Jamie Vardy, Kasper Schmeichel, Wes Morgan and Marc Albrighton all reportedly met with Leicester’s chairman in Seville a day before Claudio Ranieri was sacked. According to The Times, the four senior players were among a number of squad members who spoke to Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha this week.
SunSport revealed this morning that Leicester stars met four times with the club’s owners in an attempt to get Ranieri sacked.
The first such meeting was held in December with director of football John Rudkin, but tensions had been high since the shock first day defeat at Hull.
Following the decision to sack the former Chelsea boss, only goalkeeper Schmeichel thanked Ranieri on social media for his achievements at the club.
It is understood that Leicester’s players were told the manager would be axed before their match in Seville.
The board had hoped that informing the team of the decision would produce a better performance.
The final meeting between some of the most high-profile title-winners and Srivaddhanaprabha is believed to have taken place with Ranieri’s agreement.
Leicester’s Thai owner also sensationally bragged about sacking the Italian during a £500,000 wine spree in Mayfair, SunSport columnist Karren Brady revealed.
